Golden Highway accident claims four lives
On the evening of Friday, 21 April 2023, Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) Officers attended to a fatal multi-vehicle accident involving six vehicles along the Golden Highway between Primrose Street and Tumeric Drive, Zakariyya Park.
A maroon BMW X6, a silver Datsun, a white Toyota Bakkie, a white Hyundai Accent, a white Toyota Quantum minibus taxi and a silver Mazda Bakkie were involved in the accident.
The male driver of the BMW X6 sustained serious injuries and was taken to an unknown hospital. Two female passengers in the vehicle sustained slight injuries and they were taken to Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital.
The male driver of the silver Datsun sustained fatal injuries and was removed to Sebokeng Mortuary. There were three passengers in the vehicle. One male sustained fatal injuries and was removed to Sebokeng Mortuary, one male sustained no injuries, and one female sustained serious injuries, she had to be airlifted to Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital.
The male driver and female passenger of the white Toyota bakkie sustained no injuries.
The male driver and male passenger of the white Hyundai Accent both sustained fatal injuries and they were removed to Sebokeng Mortuary.
The male driver of the white Toyota Quantum minibus taxi sustained no injuries, and one female passenger sustained slight injuries, she was taken to Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital.
The male driver of the silver Mazda bakkie sustained serious injuries and was taken to an unknown hospital.
JMPD spokesperson, Xolani Fihla said: “The cause of the accident has not yet been determined and a case of Culpable Homicide has been opened at Lenasia South SAPS for further investigation.”
