Lenz70, in partnership with local media groups, is pleased to announce the public launch of its website cataloguing the rich history of Lenasia.
The website can be accessed at www.lenasialegacy.co.za. The easy-to-use legacy website has a wide variety of historical articles listed on pages ranging from education, sports, politics and business, religion and culture, health and welfare and historical publications.
Its home page states: “As we commemorate Lenasia’s 70th anniversary, this legacy website invites you to explore its profound history. Lenasia’s story is deeply intertwined with the struggles against apartheid and for freedom.”
It adds that the website is a living archive and a call to action. “Through stories, photographs, videos and historical publications, we honour the sacrifices of our forebears and celebrate the achievements of all our people,” it adds.
Lenz70 invites community organisations, schools, media groups and residents to document their histories, thereby ensuring our legacy endures. This will help younger generations and those not from Lenasia to understand the roots of apartheid and the importance of community solidarity and resistance in the face of adversity and injustice.
Articles may be submitted for consideration via Lenz70’s email address: info@lenasialegacy.co.za
