Johannesburg came alive on Sunday, 30 March as residents, devotees and bikers rallied together for the 1-Million Hanuman Chalisa Run and 888 Hamper Drive, an inspiring initiative led by SA Hindus.
The event was a resounding success, with an estimated 60 000 Hanuman Chalisa booklets distributed across participating temples. In a remarkable show of generosity, the community also came together to contribute approximately 2 tonnes of non-perishable food items towards the 888 Hamper Drive.
A major highlight of the day was the heartfelt support from BAPS Hindu Mandir and Cultural Complex, who will generously contribute 5 000 meals in support of the 888 Hamper Drive, further amplifying the spirit of unity and seva.
The day-long spiritual run was well-supported and attended, featuring a convoy of enthusiastic bikers and volunteers who visited multiple temples throughout Johannesburg. Their presence created a vibrant energy and drew in supporters from all walks of life.
Launched in 2024, the 1-Million Hanuman Chalisa initiative is the personal vision of Pandita Lucy Sigaban, with support from partners like Shereno Printers and Electro Online Media. With over 210 000 Chalisa booklets distributed to date, this initiative continues to grow in strength and reach.
SA Hindus extends their deepest gratitude to SA Hindus Volunteers, all Bikers, Drivers, participating Temples, sponsors, donors and Media who helped make this event such a success. With continued support, the vision of distributing one million Hanuman Chalisa booklets and helping communities in need becomes ever more achievable.
