A morning commute ended in tragedy after a robbery turned violent in Temong, with police now searching for those responsible. The incident happened at about 5.45am on Monday on Mapungubwe Street. According to Gauteng police, the victim was attacked during an alleged robbery while she was reportedly on her way to work. Her belongings were taken during the incident.

Police spokesperson, Brigadier Brenda Muridili, said the victim had been identified, but her family had not yet been formally notified.

“No one has been arrested yet, and the police are following up on leads,” Muridili said. Police are investigating the incident as a case of murder and robbery.

The incident comes as police continue investigating the deaths of several women whose bodies have been found in different parts of Ekurhuleni in recent weeks. However, police said there is currently no evidence linking Monday morning’s incident to those cases.

“Preliminary investigations have not established any link between this incident and the recent cases involving the bodies of women found in Ekurhuleni,” Muridili said.

The circumstances surrounding the attack and the identity of those responsible remain under investigation. Police have appealed to anyone with information that could assist the investigation to come forward.
