Gauteng Premier, Panyaza Lesufi, will on 8 December, lead the provincial World AIDS Day 2025 commemoration at Turffontein Racecourse, Johannesburg.
Held under the theme “Renewed efforts and sustainable commitments to end AIDS”, this year’s programme reflects the province’s commitment to strengthening the multi-sectoral response to HIV and AIDS as well as reaffirming its commitment to ending AIDS by 2030.
Members of the Executive Council (MECs), Mayors as well as Members of Mayoral Committees (MMCs), have been leading build-up activitiesacross all five regions of Gauteng to intensify HIV/AIDS awareness,promote education and encourage testing efforts ahead of the provincial commemoration World AIDS Day.
World AIDS Day provides a platform to reflect on progress, strengthen partnerships, and mobilise communities in the fight against HIV and AIDS. Gauteng continues advancing this work through the 1.1 Million ART “Close the Gap” Campaign, ensuring more people start and stay on treatment.
