A local football prodigy from Ennerdale is making headlines after taking his talent to international heights. Lamarco Marks, an 11-year-old learner at Poseidon Road Primary School and a proud member of the Hola Skoko Football Academy, recently returned home after a life-changing trip to Brazil, where he was selected to participate in international football trials.
The young star jetted off to Belo Horizonte, Brazil, on 3 July and returned to South Africa on 11 July 2025 with more than just memories. Lamarco brought back accolades, trophies and medals, having dazzled scouts and coaches with his gifted feet, high-level skill and sportsmanship on the field.
“What started as a love for soccer has now become something much greater. The objective of the trials and the campaign was to develop the players by providing exposure, growth and a global perspective. And that’s exactly what it did for Lamarco,” said his mother, Mrs Marks
Known for his discipline, humility and determination, Lamarco’s journey is a shining example of what’s possible when talent meets opportunity. His story is not just a win for him and his family, but also a proud moment for the Ennerdale community and the Hola Skoko Football Academy, which continues to nurture young talent. With the world now watching, one thing is certain Lamarco Marks is just getting started.
