A suspected hijacking in Lenasia South was successfully foiled after a swift response from private security companies, SAPS, CPF members and community members on 7 August.
According to information shared by local security stakeholders, the incident occurred when a resident in Liverpool Street was confronted by two male suspects who had reportedly been dropped off by a white BMW.
The suspects allegedly hijacked the resident, who was driving a white Hyundai i10.
Emprior Security immediately alerted the South African Police Service (SAPS), security forum members and Community Policing Forum (CPF) members, triggering a coordinated response to the incident.
The situation took a dramatic turn when the suspects lost control of the hijacked vehicle and crashed along Wellington Road.
Community members at the scene managed to disarm one of the suspects. A JML Security member subsequently transported the suspect to Lenasia South SAPS, where he was detained.
