An intelligence-driven police operation in Ennerdale led to the recovery of two vehicles, three unlicensed firearms and live ammunition, as well as the arrest of three men.
The suspects, aged between 23 and 28, face charges of possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, possession of a hijacked motor vehicle and possession of a stolen motor vehicle.
According to police, Ennerdale Crime Prevention members acted on information about a hijacked vehicle linked to a case reported in the area. The intelligence led officers to a property in Ennerdale, Extension 9.
When they arrived, police allegedly found a white Suzuki Swift that had been hijacked in Ennerdale, as well as a blue Toyota sedan reported stolen in Evaton.
A search of the property also turned up three 9mm pistols, three magazines, and 12 rounds of live ammunition.
“The confiscated firearms will be subjected to ballistic testing to determine whether they were used in the commission of other crimes,” police said.
The firearms will be sent for ballistic testing to see if they were used in other crimes.
Investigators are also trying to determine whether the suspects may be linked to other carjacking cases in the Ennerdale area.
The three are expected to appear in the Lenasia Magistrate’s Court soon.
