A police manhunt following the robbery and intimidation of an e-hailing driver in Eldorado Park earlier today ended with the arrest of two suspects.
Members of the Eldorado Park SAPS Crime Prevention Unit, assisted by Gauteng Traffic Wardens, traced the suspects to Extension 3 after the driver reported that two men had robbed him of his cellphones in Extension 1 and threatened to kill him if he contacted police.
“The suspects fled in different directions upon noticing the police, but both were successfully apprehended,” police said.
One of the men was allegedly wanted in connection with two outstanding attempted murder cases linked to incidents in Eldorado Park Extension 1.
The second suspect was found in possession of a cellphone he was unable to unlock. Police said the device’s profile picture matched the description provided by the complainant and was believed to be one of the phones stolen from the e-hailing driver.
He was arrested for possession of suspected stolen property and detained at Eldorado Park SAPS. The suspects are expected to appear in court soon.
