A 57-year-old man has been arrested after police uncovered an unlicensed firearm, ammunition and suspected drugs during an intelligence-led operation in Eldorado Park.
The operation was conducted on Saturday, 27 June, by members of the Eldorado Park Crime Prevention Unit, assisted by Gauteng Traffic Wardens, following information received about suspected criminal activity at a local residence.
Acting on the intelligence, officers searched the property and recovered a 9mm pistol, a magazine, 59 rounds of live ammunition, and a quantity of suspected drugs.
The suspect was arrested at the scene and has been charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and dealing in drugs. He is expected to appear in court soon, while investigations continue.
Police said the arrest highlights the value of intelligence-driven policing and community cooperation in tackling illegal firearms and drug-related crime. They encouraged residents to continue reporting criminal activity as law enforcement intensifies efforts to improve safety across Gauteng.
