Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department leadership and staff gathered with the Rampou family at the Ennerdale Community Hall to bid farewell to officer Mike Rampou.

Officer Rampou was remembered as a dedicated public servant who served the department and the community with honour throughout his career.

In a tribute, JMPD said Officer Rampou “served the Department with distinction & dedication throughout his career.”

The department described him as a respected colleague whose character and commitment left a lasting mark on those who worked with him and the residents he served: “He was widely respected for his kindness, generosity, wisdom & willingness to share his knowledge with others,” JMPD said.

Officer Rampou was also remembered for the love and support he gave to those closest to him: “His unwavering support for his family, friends & colleagues touched the lives of many & left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him.”

According to JMPD, his passing is a profound loss to the Department & the broader community he served with honour & commitment: “While he is no longer with us, his legacy of professionalism, compassion, integrity & selfless service will live on forever in the hearts & memories of those whose lives he enriched.”

Officer Rampou will be remembered as a kind, generous and dedicated officer who made a positive difference in the lives of many.
