The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) wishes to inform the public of significant traffic measures in place for the weekend of 30th and 31st May 2026. The Nasrec precinct will host several major simultaneous events, including the Gathering of Worshippers by Dr Tumi at FNB Stadium, the Portuguese Festival and HYROX at the Expo Centre.

To ensure the safety of the expected attendees at FNB Stadium and daily visitors at the Expo Centre, the following traffic management plan will be enforced.

Primary Road Closures & Traffic Control Points

Officers will be deployed from 10:00 to 21:00 on Saturday and from 08:00 to 00:00 on Sunday to manage traffic at these key intersections:

  • Nasrec Road: Intersections at Landbou Road, Recreation Street, Stadium Road, and Shaft 17.
  • Golden Highway: Closures and control at Ring Road 1, Ring Road 2, Stadium Road, and Soweto Highway.
  • Soweto Highway: Critical points at the N1 South On-Ramp, League Avenue, and the Shaft 17 East off-ramp.
  • Expo Centre Access: Traffic control at Rand Show Road & Commerce Street, and Ring Road 2 & Exhibition.

Parking Guidelines

  • FNB Stadium Events: VIP parking is located on the western side of the stadium. General patrons should use the eastern overflow and Shaft 17 parking.
  • Expo Centre Events: Parking is allocated to areas 1 through 4.
  • Public Transport: Park and Ride buses will be using the designated area on Golden Highway between Soweto Highway and Stadium Road.

NOTICE: Illegal parking and “informal car guards” will not be tolerated. JMPD will actively monitor Nasrec Road and Rand Show Road to prevent obstructions and ensure pedestrian safety.
