The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) K9 Unit successfully recovered a hijacked white Toyota Quantum following a swift response to an incident reported in Snake Park near Dobsonville, Soweto.
According to JMPD, officers received a complaint regarding the hijacking and immediately launched a search operation to trace the vehicle. The hijacked minibus taxi was later recovered abandoned in Thembelihle Informal Settlement, Lenasia.
Authorities confirmed that no occupants were found inside the vehicle at the time of recovery.
The recovered Toyota Quantum was subsequently booked into the Lenasia SAPS Vehicle Pound for further investigation and processing.
Police investigations into the hijacking are ongoing, and no arrests have been made at this stage.
