SASSA grant increase kicks in this April

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has announced the payment schedule for social grants in April , alongside confirmed increases to grant amounts following the national budget.

According to SASSA, Older Persons Grant beneficiaries will be the first to receive payments on Thursday, 2 April. This will be followed by Disability Grant recipients on Tuesday, 7 April ,while Children’s Grant beneficiaries are scheduled to be paid on Wednesday, 8 April.

SASSA also confirmed that all qualifying beneficiaries will begin receiving increased grant amounts from April, as outlined in the national budget delivered by Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana.

The Older Persons Grant, Disability Grant, and Care Dependency Grant will each increase by R80, bringing the total monthly payment to R2,400. The War Veterans Grant will also rise by R80 to R2,420.

Meanwhile, the Foster Child Grant will see an increase of R40, bringing it to R1,290 per month. The Child Support Grant, along with the Grant-In-Aid, will increase by R20 to R580.

SASSA has urged beneficiaries who do not receive their payments on the scheduled dates to visit their nearest local offices for assistance. The agency reiterated its commitment to ensuring that all eligible South Africans receive their social support promptly and efficiently.
