The Sekano family in Naledi, Soweto, is pleading with the community to help police trace the suspects responsible for the hijacking and murder of their 38-year-old son, Thabo Sekano.

Lenasia South SAPS spokesperson Mpho Tshetlhane said: “Sekano was hijacked and kidnapped in Chiawelo Ext 2 on 28 February. His lifeless body was later found at a park in Lenasia South, where he had sustained gunshot wounds. His vehicle was later recovered.”

Tshetlhane added that a case of murder has been opened at the Lenasia South police station: “No arrests have been made yet. Police investigations are continuing. We appeal to members of the community with information regarding the incident or any information that might assist police investigations to contact nearest police station or the police crime stop number 08600 10111 or alternatively use the MySAPSApp to provide tipoffs anonymously.”

The Sekano family has also joined the appeal, calling on the community to help ensure that those responsible for Sekano’s death are brought to justice.
