Ward 120s’ Cllr Puseletso Nzimande confirmed that the contractor has arrived at the depot. “Repairs are expected to be completed by tomorrow morning, with the water supply set to be restored by this time tomorrow. Johannesburg Water will also deploy additional roaming water tankers this afternoon,” she said.

Meanwhile residents of Lenasia South Ext 1 have expressed frustration across social media platforms after being without a water supply compounded by inadequate water tanker services for more than five days.

Taking to social media – Globe Post’s service delivery WhatsApp group, one resident said the water interruption began on 11 December: “We have been without water since Thursday. They haven’t even got quotes on the material that they need. The assessments and measurements were only done yesterday. This is ridiculous.”

Another resident said water tankers were spotted this morning. “There is a whole stream of residents coming as far as the Mosque on Azalea to get water. The areas affected include Liverpool Street, Kensington close, Imperial Street, Richmond Street Cosmo Street, Ipswich Road, Manchester Close and parts of Sheffield Street.”
