Father arrested for murder and rape of four-year-old daughter in Eldorado Park

Police confirm that the four-year-old girl who was assaulted in Eldorado Park has died in hospital. The case docket has been changed from attempted murder to murder, with an additional charge of rape added.

A 32-year-old man appeared before the Protea Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 8 August, facing charges of murder, rape and child abuse.

On Wednesday, 6 August, police responded to a complaint of a father physically abusing his child in Eldorado Park. Upon arrival, they were directed to a locked backyard shack. Inside, officers found a man with a young boy and a young girl. The girl, lying on a bed, had head injuries, bruises and a swollen eye. The man, who identified himself as the children’s father, could not provide a clear explanation for her injuries.

The girl was rushed to a nearby medical facility but later succumbed to her injuries.The father was arrested at the scene. Further investigation by the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit led to the arrest of the victim’s mother, who has been charged with defeating the ends of justice.
