During Operation Teka Hinkwaswo on Saturday 09 February 2025 approximately 22:20, members of Eldorado Park SAPS Crime Prevention alongside Gauteng Traffic Wardens were performing their normal duties when they received a complaint about occupants in four VW Polo vehicles busy shooting randomly into the air at Mpumelelo and Neptune Street Freedom Park.

Members immediately proceeded to Mpumelelo and Neptune Street where upon arrival, members spotted a silver Polo without registration number plates, with six occupants inside. Upon seeing the Police, the driver made a U-turn and sped off. The members gave chase and managed to intercept the vehicle. The driver was instructed to alight from the vehicle to which he complied.

A search of the vehicle as well as the driver ensued resulting in the recovery of a firearm with ammunition that was found on the suspect as well as four empty cartridge. The suspect failed to produce a valid license to possess the firearm.

The suspect was arrested on the spot and he is being detained at Eldorado Park Police Station for further Police investigation and will appear in court soon.

Anyone with information of any illegal activities at Eldorado Park can contact SAPS on 011 946 0300 or 082 444 3001. Alternatively, tipsters may opt to remain anonymous and call SAPS Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or send information on the MySAPS App.
