Second Brazilian drug mule caught at OR Tambo with cocaine worth R1.9 million
A 44 – year-old Brazilian woman was arrested at OR Tambo International Airport on Thursday, 28 November 2024, after being found with cocaine worth R1.9 million strapped to her upper body.
The suspect had arrived from São Paulo at 13:00 and was intercepted by SAPS intelligence. She faces a charge of drug trafficking and is set to appear in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court.
This marks the second arrest of a Brazilian drug mule at the airport this week. On Sunday, a male trafficker was apprehended carrying cocaine valued at R1.8 million, similarly wrapped around his torso. OR Tambo police remain vigilant, sending a clear message that South Africa will not tolerate drug smuggling.
