Lenasia is gearing up for its 31st annual HCC Diwali Festival, taking place on Saturday, 19 October, at the Lenasia Soccer Stadium. This beloved community event, which has become a cultural highlight for locals and visitors alike, promises an unforgettable day filled with vibrant entertainment, mouth-watering food, and festive activities. Entrance to the event is a modest R10 per person, with parking available at the Cricket Stadium for an additional R10.

The festival kicks off at 3 p.m. with live performances of song and dance, leading up to a breathtaking 22-minute fireworks display by Santech Fireworks, a leader in the field. Following the fireworks, Johannesburg’s latest sensation, Vibe, will take the stage with their Bollywood fusion tunes, sure to get everyone moving, followed by a DJ set to keep the energy high into the night.

Foodies will be spoiled for choice with a wide array of stalls offering delicious treats such as donuts, samoosas, bunny chows, biryani, burgers, and much more. With food, fun, and festivities all under one roof, the event caters to all tastes and preferences, making it the ultimate family-friendly outing.

The HCC Diwali Festival is a cornerstone event for Lenasia, deeply rooted in the spirit of community and cultural celebration. However, organizing such a large-scale event comes with its challenges, particularly in securing the necessary funding. The HCC team appeals to local businesses and individuals for donations and sponsorships to help keep this cherished festival alive.

No alcohol, hookah, or weapons will be permitted at the venue, ensuring a safe and family-friendly environment for all attendees.

So, mark your calendars and come celebrate the Festival of Lights in true Lenasian style. This is more than just an event—it’s a celebration of community, culture, and the triumph of good over evil.

For more information, contact the event organizers at the following numbers: Kishore Badal (082 555 2050), Ishara Singh (072 436 1376), Vijay Naran (061 499 3728), Indira Mathura (082 430 2152), Viren Badal (082 347 7750), Indrin Kandasamy (079 500 7330), and Shanille Moodley (082 742 8694).
