On August 29, 2024, the Lenasia South Civic Centre was transformed into a hub of inspiration, education, and entertainment as our community came together to celebrate Women’s Day. Hosted by the Caretaker of the Needy Impact Foundation, under the leadership of Zarina Livingstone, the event, titled “Empowering All,” honored the phenomenal women in our lives and aimed to create positive change in the community.

The event was graced by esteemed guest speakers, including representatives from the Councillor’s committee, SAPS, and Social Welfare, who shared valuable insights into women’s empowerment and the importance of community support. Their speeches were enriched by inspiring true-life experiences from courageous individuals who have overcome incredible challenges, further highlighting the strength and resilience of women.

A diverse range of organizations participated, offering their services and expertise in support of women. These included FAMSA, TAD, and others, who provided essential information on family bonding, domestic violence support, health services, and mental health care. The inclusion of these organizations underscored the event’s comprehensive approach to empowering women.

Entertainment was provided by talented performers, including a choir group and solo dancers, who captivated the audience with their artistic expressions. The atmosphere was electric, filled with a sense of unity and celebration.

Special thanks go to the Unlimited Recovery Centre (URC) for their valuable support and partnership in empowering individuals through their drug rehabilitation programs. Their involvement added an important dimension to the event, addressing the critical issue of substance abuse in the community.

The use of the Civic Centre for this event was a testament to our community’s commitment to women’s empowerment. The venue buzzed with the energy of collaboration, learning, and celebration. The overwhelming response from attendees highlighted the community’s dedication to supporting and uplifting women.

As the host, Zarina Livingstone expressed her gratitude, saying, “I am humbled by the overwhelming response and grateful for the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of phenomenal women.”

The event was a huge success, educating and uplifting many. It stands as a powerful reminder of the importance of celebrating and supporting the phenomenal women in our lives, not just on Women’s Day, but every day.
