As of the latest update from the Electoral Commission (IEC), the vote tally in Gauteng stands at 57.6%, with 1,611 out of 2,797 Voting Districts (VDs) reporting. Here are the standings for the top five parties:

  • ANC: 35,34% – 779 234 votes
  • DA: 27,81% – 613 168 votes
  • EFF: 12,37% – 272 729 votes
  • MK: 10,37% – 228 690 votes
  • Action SA: 3,23% – 71 210 votes

Meanwhile, nationally a total of 15 382 VDs out of 23 293 representing 66,04% have been tallied, with the following parties leading:

  • ANC: 41,48% – 3 959 298 votes
  • DA: 22,64% – 2 142 989 votes
  • MK: 12% – 1 135 627 votes
  • EFF: 9,51% – 899 936 votes
  • IFP: 3,02% 286 268 votes

The ANC, while still leading, faces growing challenges from both traditional rivals like the DA and newer entities like MK and Action SA. The evolving voter preferences highlight the importance of addressing key issues such as economic management, corruption, and service delivery to gain electoral support. The final outcomes will provide a clearer picture of the future political trajectory in South Africa.
