Breaking News: Shooting disrupts Rand Water’s uniform and school shoe donation in Zakariyya Park

A handover of school shoes and uniforms to the community at the Zakariya Park Hall turned into bloodbath this morning with unknown assailants opening fire into the gathering resulting in two deceased with the Chief Whip in the City of Joburg, and Ward 122’s Cllr Nkosephayo God-Slove Zungu sustaining injuries to his arm and leg. The councillor was rushed to hospital soon after the incident.

Eyewitnesses on scene allege that a white SUV, vehicle registration unknown, was seen speeding off shortly after the shooting. It is unclear if this vehicle was linked to the shooting at this time.

The event, hosted by Rand Water, was scheduled for 9am until 11.30 am this morning. Chairperson of the Rand Water Board, Ramateu Monyokolo and Chief Executive, Sipho Mosai where meant to hand over school shoes and uniforms to the value of R470 000 to 1 670 learners from eight (8) schools from Ward 122, City of Johannesburg.
