In a statement released today, Postbank spokesperson, Dr Bongani Diako assured SASSA social grants beneficiaries that despite the expiration of their SASSA Gold Cards, they will remain valid and functional for social grants payments throughout 2024.
Important Information for Social Grants Beneficiaries:
- No Need to Change: Disregard any advice urging you to switch to another bank, claiming that your grant won’t be paid due to the supposed inoperability of your expired SASSA Gold Card. Postbank emphasizes that the SASSA Gold Card will continue to function in 2024, and beneficiaries will receive their grants on time through their existing cards. It is crucial to note that no one, including SASSA officials, has the authority to dictate your banking choice.
- Report Misleading Attempts: If someone advises you to change banks, falsely stating that your SASSA Gold Card is no longer operational, and claims that cards are being replaced, report such incidents immediately. Only Postbank is authorized to replace your SASSA Gold Card. Incidents can be reported to 0800 53 54 55.
Beneficiaries can conveniently access their SASSA grants using SASSA Gold Cards at various retailers such as Boxer, Pick n Pay, Shoprite, Usave, Checkers, and Spar, as well as any bank ATM nationwide.
While cash services at Post Office branches will be gradually phased out from January to March 2024 as part of an overarching strategy to enhance customer service standards, beneficiaries experiencing issues with lost or stolen SASSA Gold Cards can still visit any Post Office branch nationwide to obtain a replacement card.
