The Lenmed Ahmed Kathrada Private Hospital has now added another feather to its cap after being internationally accredited to provide bariatric surgery. The hospital has opened a new state-of-the-art facility designed to provide patients with the most advanced technology and techniques for weight loss surgery.

The bariatric centre team comprises highly trained and experienced bariatric surgeons, nurses, dietitians and psychiatrists and support staff dedicated to helping patients achieve their weight loss journey. The new facility features the latest surgical equipment and technology to ensure the best possible treatment and outcomes for patients.

“We are thrilled to open our new facility and offer our services to the people of Lenasia, Soweto, Eldorado Park and the south of Johannesburg. Our team of multidisciplinarians are committed to providing patients with compassionate, personalised care and the most advanced surgical options to help them achieve their goals – from beginning to end,” said Hospital CEO, Sagran Sukhessan.

The Lenmed Ahmed Kathrada Private Hospital bariatric centre will offer a variety of weight loss procedures, including laparoscopic gastric bypass, laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, and adjustable gastric banding. It will also provide comprehensive pre-and post-operative care, including lifestyle changes, nutritional guidance, counselling and support groups, to help patients achieve long-term success.

The journey for the centre to be accredited was also vital, and having Proventi present the hospital with internationally recognised and proficiency-based accreditation means the hospital meets best practice requirements for it to operate its bariatric centre.

“As a hospital group that is carving its way as a thought leader in healthcare, Lenmed is once again proud to have one of its hospitals accredited for a service offering like bariatric surgery. Through the bariatric centre we envision delivering the highest standard of clinical outcomes, which will further our mission to create healthier and prosperous communities and promote holistic wellness for patients as we support them through a curated and monitored journey, with the best expertise from our team of medical professionals,” said Lenmed CEO, Amil Devchand.
