Ennerdale parkrun strives to keep residents fit

Late last month, parkrun ambassador, Ebrahim Adams, launched the Ennerdale chapter at the Ext 9 Stadium taking place every Saturday at 8am.

The parkrun is an inclusive health initiative that promotes healthy living through a 5-kilometre walk, run or jog with no time limits while no one finishes first or last.

Adams detailed the journey and its challenges to GLOBE POST.

“There were many requests for different reasons regarding the parkrun, however people faded away because it is a volunteer initiative,” he explained.

He acknowledged the determination showed by Ingrid and Desmond Brown who were instrumental in the formation of the Ennerdale parkrun.

He said: “Ingrid and Desmond stood firm in making sure that there’s a change in their community.”

At present, the initiative has a low number of volunteers and participants. Adams appealed to residents to volunteer at least once a month in order to give everyone a chance to run.
