Not for Sale – a film shot in Lenasia South in 2018 highlighting human trafficking and its effects premiered on SABC 1 on Wednesday, 29 March following its official release in 2019.

By Lebohang Ndashe – Intern

The film has been shown at the Soweto Theatre and on Mzansi Bioskop.

Not for Sale is a Brilz Films Production’s second film to air on the public broadcaster, following the success of Waves of Live which premiered on 22 March.

Raised in Lenasia South from the age of 15, film producer, Thendo Brilz said: “Besides it being home, I chose Lenasia South because I wanted to empower the youth and introduce them to the industry as I used them as extras and part of the crew.”

She added: “Shooting on location came with its own set of challenges, for example there was a scene that needed a police station but the police could not help which led to us being creative and using alternative measures,” Brilz added.

In closing, Brilz encouraged upcoming filmmakers: “This industry is not easy, you just have to know what you want and work hard towards it, if you cannot afford film school start where you are with what you have.”
