It was an action-packed weekend at the Lenasia Tennis Association’s (LTA) Annual Men’s Doubles Championships held at the Lenasia Tech Grounds in Ext 4 between 19 and 21 May.

By Lebohang Ndashe – Intern

Sixty four teams from all over the country battled it out for trophies and gift bags with Wilson products.

LTA’s secretary and administrative manager, Nadia Patel told GLOBE POST: “The level of talent was spectacular, young players really stood out. It all culminated into a nail-biting semifinals and awesome finals in each category.”

Here are the winners:

Mujaheed Gaffoor and Ziyaad Kardamey (Lenasia)

Runner ups

Naadir Bismilla and Mohammed Patel (Johannesburg and Azaadville)

Silver winners

Faizel Jalla and Murat Boyaci (Midrand)

Runner ups

Faried Vally and Fuaad Motala (Lenasia)

Bronze winners

Junaid Mukadam and Imraan khan (Klerksdorp)

Food was provided to participants and spectators who were present on Sunday for the finale.

“By the time we got to the finals, everyone had full tummies and sat down to witness an epic finale between our very own Janoo brothers – who’ve won the event multiple times – and the strong pair from Pretoria “MoJo and Hash” who had recently won at the Laudium event. The Pretoria pair were victorious after producing some breathtaking strokes. Overally, it was a successful and extremely entertaining weekend of tennis we had,” Patel added.
