Four years after dental doctor Dr Siviwe Skeyi disappeared, his family is still searching for answers, with reported sightings across different provinces yet to establish his whereabouts.

Skeyi, who was 36 when he went missing, was last seen in Ennerdale on 26 April 2022. He would now be approximately 40 years old. Speaking to Globe Post, his cousin, Thando Skeyi, explained that the family’s last known information about the doctor dates back to April 2022, when he travelled to the Eastern Cape to attend his sister’s funeral.

According to Thando, Dr Skeyi subsequently returned to Johannesburg, where he was expected to renew his professional registration as a dental practitioner. After that, the family lost contact with him.

“We have been trying to find out what happened to him, but we still have no confirmed information about where he is,” Thando said. The family has continued circulating missing-person appeals in the hope that someone might recognise Dr Skeyi or have information about his movements after April 2022.

Thando said the appeals generated several leads, with some people claiming to have seen the missing doctor in Pretoria and others reporting possible sightings in Limpopo. However, none of these reports has provided the family with confirmed information about his whereabouts. While the family remains open to information that could help locate him, the search has also brought additional difficulties.

According to Thando, some people have allegedly attempted to scam the family by taking advantage of their efforts to find their missing relative. “We are asking for genuine help. We just want to know where he is and what happened to him,” Thando said.

The family is urging members of the public not to exploit their situation or provide misleading information, but to share any credible leads that could assist in establishing Dr Skeyi’s whereabouts.

Dr Skeyi, also known as “Warra Reborn Newman”, was a dental doctor whose disappearance has left his family without answers for more than four years. He was described as slim, of medium height and brown complexion, with short hair that he sometimes wore closely shaved or bald.

He was last reported to have been wearing blue denim trousers, a red jacket and a red cap. The family is appealing to residents of Ennerdale, Lenasia, Eldorado Park, Johannesburg, Pretoria, Limpopo and other parts of South Africa to come forward if they remember seeing him or have information that could help trace his movements.

Even information about where he may have been living or working after April 2022 could prove useful to those trying to establish what happened.

Anyone with information about Dr Siviwe Skeyi’s whereabouts is urged to contact the family on:

  • 079 170 3486
  • 076 729 6736

Information can also be reported to the nearest South African Police Service station. For the family, the priority remains finding credible answers about their relative’s disappearance. After years of uncertainty, they are appealing for genuine assistance from anyone who may know something about what happened to Dr Skeyi.Globe Post urges anyone with credible information to contact the family and share this appeal to help reach people who may be able to assist.
