An 18-year-old Daleview Secondary learner has been arrested in connection with the murder of a Grade 8 Oakdale Senior Secondary learner outside the school’s premises yesterday morning while another suspect in the matter has been arrested and is under police protection at the hospital.
SAPS spokesperson, Cpt Jeff Phora, told GLOBE POST: “Police received information that six learners at Oakdale Secondary School had stabbed each other and attended to the scene. One learner succumbed to his injuries. Two witnesses’ sstatements were obtained and the suspects were identified. The other suspects was arrested and detained at the Ennerdale Police station while another is under police guard at the hospital.”
Phora added that the motive behind the crime is bullying and the suspect will appear at the Lenasia Court on 12 February.
Meanwhile, earlier today, the Gauteng MEC for Education visited the school and the deceased’s family to pay his condolences.
