A suspect wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of four people inside a tavern in Ennerdale has been arrested by officers from the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) Tactical Response Unit (TRU).
JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla said: “JMPD TRU officers received information regarding the suspects wanted in connection with the murder of four people who were fatally shot inside a tavern in Ennerdale.”
He added that the officers immediately followed up on the intelligence and proceeded to the identified location: “Upon arrival, one of the suspects, who had been evading arrest for an extended period, was successfully apprehended.”
The suspect remains in custody at Johanesburg Central SAPS. The arrest marks a significant breakthrough in the investigation into the fatal tavern shooting, which shocked the Ennerdale community and raised renewed concerns about violent crime in the area.
Fihla praised the officers for their prompt response and reiterated that law enforcement remains committed to tracking down those responsible for serious crimes: “Criminals are warned that they cannot evade the law indefinitely.”
Police investigations into the murders are continuing, and authorities have not ruled out further arrests as they work to locate any remaining suspects connected to the case.
